Coming out of Tulane with a 3.0, 3 ys worth of experience at small firms.

Is it possible in this market to find a job that pays over 50? Will anyone even consider me before I pass the bar?

Thanks for any input.

Pre-law experience is rarely valuable to a law firm, unless they are hiring you as a paralegal. Legal experience during law school is a bit better, but likely won't help you land a gig at a reputable firm.

Your experience in law school and during the summer is much more valuable. What did you do with your summers? To the extent you couldn't find paid gigs that provided good experience, you should have volunteered with the courts, DA, US Attorney's office, etc.

Additionally, you should take a government job out of law school to give you the experience you need to build a useful practice later in your career. Slaving away for sub-par lawyers for sub-par pay is not a good career move. Take $10K less and go after good and marketable experience with the government if you can't find a good gig. It will open up opportunities later in your career.

Thanks for the advice, I'm definitely going to ramp up my govt job search.

I worked for the GA Public Defenders Appellate division last summer. Study abroad year before that.

Thanks again.
