Does anyone know billing rates for mid-level associates at L.A. firms such as DLA Piper, Paul Hastings, etc?

The large national firms (DLA, Latham, Gibson) bill third year associates out about $300-320 or so. Smaller national firms like Sheppard and Paul Hastings are more like $280-300. Regional firms or large California only firms like Allen Matkins or Snell are like $260-280. California only firms (Rutan, Buchalter) are more like $230-260.

TTT firms are at $180-$200, but should be at $25-$30.

Then quit hiring us and do you own doc review. Who let him on the site? Creators, is there any way to block all comments from clients and morons?

20-50 person California firms bill $140-$200 (depending upon practice area)

Someone's numbers are way off. California-based national firms bill FIRST years at 325 and above (with many deals being 375 or even higher). You can extrapolate upwards from that to guess where midlevels come in.

Might not be that off. This top-tier CA 1st year associate is billed at 270

I'm a third year, not at a top-tier firm, and I'm billed out at 330.

Not top tier; are you still getting market pay? If not, the firm must be making a killing. I am a third year in the OC and getting market pay and they are only billing me at $280 (and our PPP were almost $1MM last year).

Yes, market pay. But the big difference is I don't have to bill as many hours. For example, minimum billables for a bonus is 1800. Therein lies the rub.

Wow; I have to bill 2050 to get a bonus (our minimum is 1950). I'm getting screwed. It looks like I need to find a new pimp.
