Can ANYONE give any idea for post 3rd year comp at Nixon? I know it's discretionary, but it would be nice to know, for example, what 6th years (Class of 2002) made in 2008 for base salary.

Thanks.

Which office are you looking for? I assume the large market ones (LA, SF, NY, CH)? I have no idea, but you can generally tell by comparing it with firms of similar size and profitability. For example, Nixon won't pay what Skadden or even Kirtland pays, but probably more like Bryan Cave (see the figures on this site). Bryan Cave is of a similar size and profitability. Firms that don't pay lockstep are all over the board, but most are within $20K of the others in their class. There are a few outliers that make way more or way less, but 90% are likely within a few thousand of Bryan Cave's numbers. I hope this helps.

Short lesson: don't go to a non-lockstep firm unless you plan to work hard and prostitute yourself. If you are even slightly a slacker, go to a lockstep firm and lay low and collect checks until they find you out.

Larger market offices. I'd like to hear from someone at Nixon about what they make, so I can get some idea.
