Anonymous Email Comment: You should include benefits, such as how many weeks vacation. I received offers from several firms, but didn't know some firms offer 3 versus 4 weeks' vaca. I cut out all the 3 week places off my list. Response: Thank you for the request. Your best resource on benefits is NALP. We do not currently have the time nor the resources to cover this area of associate compensation. However, a word to the wise. I would not trust vacation figures. The more important figure is how many hours you will be required to bill (not the minimum, which gives some indication, but the actual median billables of the firm). This figure will dictate how much vacation you get despite how many weeks the firm claims to give you. Many firms have stopped giving vacation altogether because the concept is hallow. Instead, the firm says take as many vacation days as you want as long as you hit your hours and meet client needs (i.e., you may have to cancel your vacation if the firm needs you). Best of luck to you. |
